Joe Vitale’s an old pal of Holden’s. They started working together back in the early 2000’s. Joe’s Disney portfolio of work and especially his Tiki Farm portfolio is impressive. Such is the case when your daytime job sees you as the Principal Production Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering. Working when creating, creating when working and creating when not working, those are just a few of Joe’s hobbies!
Here’s Joe’s original concept from October of 2023 that ultimately served as what would become our brand new “Tumbuna” Tiki mug.
There are many starting points, lots of middle points and a few left and right turns that all go into our 26-years of supporting the Tiki artist community and bringing their visions, their dreams… their art, to fruition.
Joe’s designed an Outrigger load of mugs for Tiki Farm to-date. Mr. Moai, Hot Head, Mini Hot Head, I Dream of Tiki, The Howler, The Mystic, Tiki Boy, countless Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender mugs, Kava Kava, Lil’ Waha Nui, Space Moai, 4 different designs for Guy Fieri’s “Downtown Flavor Town” and now, Joe Vitale’s Papua New Guinea Mug. I’m pretty sure I’m missing about 3-5 not listed here.
Joe’s style is argued as the most singularly-unique in the Tiki Farm arsenal of the now over 200 artist collaborators within our framework. There are others that come to mind that I feel share in this attribute, but surely Joe is in that top tier of what makes his Tiki artwork easily identifiable as “A Vitale”. Much the same thing as knowing a Shag mug is "a Shag" and a Derek Yaniger piece is instantly recognized as “hey, that’s a Yaniger”. We proudly present you with our newest Vitale – Tumbuna!
